Al Reem Island is one of Abu Dhabi’s most established residential areas.
It sits close to the city centre, with a skyline defined by apartment towers, waterfront views and large mixed use communities. Shams Abu Dhabi, Marina Square and City of Lights each offer a different choice of buildings, layouts and surroundings.

For buyers, that matters. Al Reem is not one market. A home in an established tower can offer a different view, service charge, layout and resale history from a new residence a short distance away.
Al Reem has moved beyond being known only for towers.
Residents have Reem Mall, Snow Abu Dhabi, Reem Central Park, supermarkets, restaurants, schools, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and local healthcare facilities close by. This gives buyers a clearer picture of daily life before they commit to a property.

An established area also gives buyers more reference points. You can compare completed buildings, assess common areas, look at access routes and understand what the immediate neighbourhood feels like at different times of day.

Road connections have been a major focus for residents over recent years. The newer routes linking Al Reem Island with the wider Abu Dhabi road network have improved access towards Saadiyat Island, central Abu Dhabi and the routes leading towards Dubai.
Al Reem is also now within the Abu Dhabi Global Market jurisdiction. The change gives the island a closer connection to the wider financial district that includes neighbouring Al Maryah Island.
For a buyer, this does not replace the need to assess a specific building. It does explain why location inside the island is becoming more important. Access, nearby services, views and future construction all vary by address.
Al Reem continues to add new residential projects alongside its existing towers. That creates more choice for buyers. It also means each purchase needs a direct comparison.
A resale apartment may offer an immediate move, a tested layout and a completed community. A new launch may offer a newer design, a payment schedule and a later handover. The right decision depends on the exact home, not the island name alone.
Check the building’s condition, service charges, view protection, parking, amenities and the projects due to complete nearby. For an off plan home, check the current developer documents, payment plan and handover information before making a decision.
Start with the basics:
Al Reem Island gives buyers real choice. The strongest purchase is usually the one that makes sense on the details: the home, the building and the street around it.
